    Navy Pier 2008 Summer Entertainment Auditions
    Tuesday, March 18th, 2008
    10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
    East end of Navy Pier in Conference Room 328
    Callbacks by invitation will be held on Wednesday, March 19th.

    Navy Pier Entertainment is now casting for the Summer 2008 show season. If you are ready to entertain and inspire a diverse group of local and international visitors, you'll enjoy an exciting opportunity with unlimited creativity. From stage shows to roving entertainment, Navy Pier is seeking professional entertainers who love the thrill of a live audience.Buccaneers

    Auditions:
    Cast auditions will be held at the East end of Navy Pier in conference room 328. For questions or to schedule an appointment, please call: 312.595.5188. Resumes, along with an application, must be submitted at time of audition. Applications are available in the Human Resources Office, Navy Pier’s Guest Services Desk, or at www.mpea.com. It is encouraged that you schedule an audition, but it is not necessary. Walk-ups are welcome.

    Actors:
    Format: All actors will participate in a preliminary group audition. Please come prepared to move and improvise. You may be asked to participate in a cold reading. Seeking replacements, understudies, and swings for all performance groups. We are also seeking performers to play Navy Pier’s own Pirate Dog, Patch.

    General Information:
      The Pranksters
    • Actors who posses special skills such as circus arts, juggling, performing magic, playing a musical instrument, stage combat, and/or dancing are strongly encouraged to audition.
    • Performers must be at least 18 years old
    • Must provide a headshot and resume at your audition
    • Weekday, weekend, evening, and holiday availability required
    • EEO/drug-free workplace
    • Highly competitive pay
    Roles:

    The Navy Pier Players, Navy Pier's own cast of actors, include the following roles:
      The Buccaneers:The Buccaneers
      The Buccaneers are a crew of pirates who perform a highly physical stage show which includes stage combat, sword fighting, dancing, and physical comedy.
        Characters:
        Captain Phinneas Sogsworth: Charismatic, charming, cool and he knows it.
        Bounty: Captain’s wife. Tough, demanding, and knows how to get what she wants.
        Barnacle Bob (Barb): Conniving First Mate with a sense of entitlement.
        Sandy Bottoms: Galley chef. A resourceful buffoon with an eye for the ladies.
      Patch:
      Patch is Navy Pier's own mascot. Previous mascot experience is a plus. Patch is a pirate dog with an attitude. He is very active and energetic.

      Pirateville Pranksters:
      Navy Pier's roving pirates. Physically adept character actors who possess circus skills or other unique talents are strongly encouraged to audition.

    The Bud Light Stage in the Navy Pier Beer Garden

    Band at Beer Garden Hundreds of bands are booked each Memorial Day - Labor Day for the Bud Light Stage. This free admission, outdoor venue has excellent sound and light production and has a capacity of over 500 guests. The party never stops at the Navy Pier Beer Garden!

    Starting January 2, 2008, Beer Garden band submissions will be accepted for the Summer 2008 season. NOTE: postmark deadline for submissions is March 1, 2008. Any submissions postmarked after March 1, 2008, will be moved to the 2009 list.

    Variety Showcase
    Variety Showcase Performer
    Our roster of talented variety performers consists of jugglers, contortionists, unicyclists, stilt walkers, magicians, clowns.you name it! These are contracted performers that are either booked on the Family Pavilion Stage or strolling around the Pier.

    The Navy Pier Players

    Pier Players Cast PhotoAuditions are held each spring for our in-house cast of singers, dancers, variety performers and actors. Both ensemble and individual characters are cast for both stage and guest meet and greet roles. Auditions are occasionally held in the Fall for seasonal roles. All audition opportunities will be posted on the Navy Pier website.





    School/Community Performance Groups and Marching Bands

    School / community performance groups and marching bands are invited to participate as part of Navy Pier's free public programming.

    Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate concert bands, show choirs and orchestras due to space restrictions. Please note that these performances are also unpaid. Due to the large number of submissions, we are only able to contact the groups that best suit our needs.

    Please fill out and submit the attached application along with a non-returnable color photo and performance CD of your group, or a VHS/DVD recording, as well as an introductory letter about your group. High School Band Photo
    • All ages and all styles may submit. Due to space restrictions we cannot accommodate dancing groups larger than 15 members, choral groups larger than 40 members, or bands larger than 10 members.
    • Unfortunately, we cannot provide music stands or chairs for performers.
    • All outdoor performances are weather permitting.
