Roseway was built in 1925 in Essex, Massachusetts, as a private fishing yacht. She was purchased by the Boston Pilot's Association in 1941, and was honored for her exemplary service during World War II. Roseway was the last pilot schooner serving in the U.S. when she was retired in 1973. In 1974, Roseway began service in the Maine windjammer fleet, and in 2002, was donated to the World Ocean School. She is one of the last Grand Banks fishing schooners built in Essex, and is a registered U.S. National Historic Landmark.
