Built in 1989 in the former Russian state of Georgia, Fazisi was designed by architect VladMurnikow. The 82-foot aluminum hull yacht met the daunting ocean challenges of the 1989-90 Whitebreak Round the World Race and became the first and only boat from the former Soviet Union to enter the race. Fazisi shocked the doubters as she covered 386 nautical miles in only 24 hours. Named after the river where Argonauts found the Golden Fleece, in 1999 Fazisi was purchased by members of the Joseph Conrad Yacht Club in Chicago. Fazisi was later donated to the Polish Yachting Association of North America. In 2007, Fazisi made the voyage to Poland to participate in the Tall Ships Races as students from the Merchant Marine School made up a large part of the crew.
