Parade of Sail Tuesday, August 24, 2010 The Pepsi® Tall Ships Festival kicks-off with an opening day Parade of Sail on Lake Michigan, where these storied ships with their billowing sails and towering masts inch their way to the Navy Pier docks, set against the backdrop of our world-famous skyline.  This breathtaking spectacle heralds the start of this long awaited festival celebrating the rich maritime heritage of both Chicago and Navy Pier. Parade of Sail: Begins at 4:00 p.m. The tall ships gather near Northerly Island, then parade past Navy Pier to near North Avenue Beach, before returning to Navy Pier for docking. Festival Admission/Dockside Viewing tickets required for prime viewing along Navy Pier's East End Plaza. (Limited viewing along Navy Pier's Dock Street is free and open to the public.) Parade of Sail Map. Opening Ceremonies at Navy Pier's East End Plaza: 5:00 p.m., as the ships make their approach and serve as a beautiful backdrop for the ceremony. Please note: locations and duration of Parade of Sail are subject to change depending on the weather and wind. Sail on a Tall Ship in the PARADE OF SAIL, not just as a spectator, but as one of the sailors, with the best view of all the vessels as they sail in the parade! The Parade of Sail ticket price includes a box lunch and a soft drink or water. It also includes a festival viewing admission ticket. This private event is by invitation only, but only Parade of Sail ticket purchasers have the option to join this spectacular event for just an additional $60.
