Event Hours

August 24
two ships (Ticket sales start at Noon. Festival Grounds entertainment from 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.)
    Parade of Sail
    Begins at 4:00 p.m. Tall ships gather near Northerly Island, parade north past Navy Pier to near North Avenue Beach, then return and dock at Navy Pier.

    Opening Ceremonies at Navy Pier's East End Plaza: 5:00 p.m., as the ships make their approach. Parade of Sail will be the backdrop during the ceremony. Festival Admission/Dockside Viewing Tickets required for best viewing location along East End Plaza of Navy Pier. (Additional limited viewing available along Navy Pier’s Dock Street is free and open to the public.)

    Tall Ship Dockside Viewing
    View all 20 tall ships once the Parade of Sail concludes. Festival Grounds open until 9:00 p.m. Festival Grounds consist of three locations, all at Navy Pier: Nautical Mile (North Dock), Canada Cove (NW wall near Pier entrance) and America Alley (SW Wall near Pier entrance).

    Fireworks Tall Ship Viewing (see all 20 ships) and Tall Ship Dockside Boarding (board up to 12 ships)

Ship Lineup
Chicago's Navy Pier is a celebration of our maritime heritage. As part of Pepsi® Tall Ships Chicago 2010, Navy Pier's North Dock will be renamed the "Nautical Mile" and will be the center of the event. Ships of all classes and sail configurations will be docked along the dock wall. Two additional Dock Areas will feature tall ships and be part of the Festival Grounds: NW Wall near the Pier entrance will be renamed "Canada Cove" and the SW Wall near the Pier entrance will be renamed "America Alley".

Festival Activities

Pepsi® TALL SHIPS Chicago 2010 has Something for Everyone

Events* include nightly fireworks, opportunity to walk the decks of up to 12 ships for crew-guided tours with purchase of Dockside Boarding Tickets, international music, special ship exhibits and maritime displays, fun crew challenges, arts and crafts, fun activities for kids in a Children's Village, and more.

Parade of Sail

Tall Ship Windy and four other visiting vessels are offering 60-minute and 90-minute sailing excursions on Lake Michigan throughout their stay from August 25 - 29.

Brilliant displays of color illuminate the night sky in tribute to this maritime festival! Special fireworks nightly at 9 p.m. for Festival Grounds Visitors.
