About Navy Pier - Public Art BIGart at Navy PierNavy Pier welcomes BIGart at Navy Pier, an annual, free outdoor art exhibition at the Pier. Navy Pier is pleased to partner with the Gagosian Gallery to display the artistic talent of world-renowned artist Roy Lichtenstein. A signature Lichtenstein sculpture – Brushstroke Group – will be one of the sculptures on display. Another signature piece is Monochrome II Chicago by American sculptor and installation artist Nancy Rubins. Monochrome II Chicago incorporates aluminum boats and wire cable to form a bursting web-like sculpture. Click here for more information and to view the sculptures by international artists. Smith Museum of Stained Glass WindowsThe Smith Museum of Stained Glass Windows is a permanent display of 150 stained glass windows housed in an 800-ft.-long series of galleries along the lower level terraces of Festival Hall. Open since February 2000, it is the first museum in the United States dedicated solely to stained glass windows. It showcases both secular and religious windows and is divided by artistic theme into four categories: Victorian, Prairie, Modern and Contemporary. All of the windows were designed by prominent local, national and European studios and most were originally installed in Chicago area residential, commercial and religious buildings. Admission to the Smith Museum of Stained Glass Windows is free and open during Navy Pier operating hours. |
